Most of the newer VW® and some Audi® cars have a front strut that is held at the bottom by a hefty clamp that is part of the front wheel bearing carrier. After removing the pinch bolt, this tool will spread the clamp. Don't break your good screwdrivers on this task! For Golf®/Jetta®/New Beetle® from 1999. Handy ½" hex base fits into wrench or socket. Turn 90° and leave in place while replacing strut. Not for impact tool usage. Metalnerd® brand, Made in USA.
Note: Starting around 2006, some pinch bolts require a 14 mm triple square driver to remove. Check your pinch bolt. You can find a suitable driver (MN10PC or MNXZ14) on the Triple Square Bit Page.
